Topiary

Recently the foolish endeavour had blossomed into welcoming convalescents into their own home. Henrik’s associate, Barker, had suffered some sort of mid-life body dysfunction, details of which Pippa assiduously avoided. Rachel had thought Barker the ideal patient upon whom to practise her now established concern plus her newly learned practical skills.

Life’s Work

The sand and rocks are rich in scuttling creatures, especially at the high tide line. I stop at a miniature cliff of crumbling sand, where ebb-tide rivulets have eroded a striking, temporary canyon. In this small-scale, fast-evolving landscape, tide debris could be riparian foliage. Someone small scurries through this cover, nudging items this way and that. I wait to see their picture resolve from the detritus.
